Eccentric, cult French rocker Philippe Katerine, accompanied by the group Francis et ses Peintres, comes to FIAF for his first-ever show in the U.S.
Acclaimed as “the undisputed king of off-kilter French pop” by The Guardian (UK), Katerine made his debut in 1991 with a lo-fi album of one and two-minute minimalist songs. In the ‘90s, Katerine rose to become a leading figure on France’s indie pop scene, and gained mainstream success in the past 10 years with his albums regularly making the Top 40 in France. Katerine has also enjoyed success as an actor, notably appearing in Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life, a biopic of French icon Serge Gainsbourg.
In 2011, Katerine partnered with the jazz band Francis et ses Peintres, who will accompany him at FIAF, for a project consisting of 52 cover versions of songs by artists Yannick Noah and Irving Berlin, among others.

Le rocker culte excentrique français Philippe Katerine, accompagné par le groupe Francis et ses peintres vient à la FIAF pour son premier spectacle aux États-Unis.
Acclamé comme “le roi incontesté du pop décalé français” par The Guardian (UK), Katerine a fait ses débuts en 1991 avec un album lo-fi avec des chansons minimalistes de deux minutes.
Dans les années 90, Katerine devient une référence sur la scène indie pop en France, et connait un succès grand public au cours des 10 dernières années. Ses albums sont régulièrement au top des classements en France.
Katerine est aussi un acteur et a notamment joué dans Gainsbourg: Vie héroïque.
Durant l’année 2010, il publie chaque semaine une reprise d’une chanson française sur le site Katerine, Francis et ses peintres avec François Ripoche. L’ensemble des reprises donne lieu à l’album 52 reprises dans l’espace avec des chansons d’artistes comme Yannick Noah et Irving Berlin, entre autres.
